Jenny Gwinn
Chair
“I’m Jenny Gwinn, Chair of HABCOS. I have lived in the village for over 20 years and love the community here. I enjoy working with the HABCOS Committee to maintain and promote the heritage and community of such an historic, beautiful village.”

Heather Marshall
Vice-Chair
“My name is Heather and I am Vice Chair of HABCOS. I have been on the committee since HABCOS was formed in 2007. I have lived in the village for over 25 years and my first association with the village was when I was five and learnt to ride at Havering Park Riding School. I am very passionate about the village and love its community, friendly feel. I enjoy looking after my horses and walking my dogs”

Maggy Farley
Secretary
“I live in a house with quite a history. Originally built during the reign of ‘Farmer’ George (III), possibly at the time of the French Revolution. The house eventually became a Butchers shop owned by a family for over a hundred years. I have only lived here since the year 2000. My interests include History, Natural History and the environment. My working life revolved around Social Work and Education.“

Claire Hick
Treasurer
“Hi, my name is Claire, I have lived in the village for just over twenty years and have raised my three children here. We have been lucky enough to have Havering Country Park on our doorstep and to have Dame Tipping School just a short walk away. I have recently taken over the role of Treasurer for HABCOS.”

Geoff Clarke
Committee Member
“Hi I’m Geoff. I am an associate minister of St James and St John’s and I have a close association with HABCOS, the village and Dame Tipping School. Before becoming a minister, I was a stockbroker in the City of London. I look forward to continuing my involvement with HABCOS”

Michael Heap
Committee Member
“Having seen HABCOS develop into a proper village society with a strong sense of community, I am looking forward to assisting with our new website, especially with the history of this village. We are very fortunate that there are many more records available than is usually the case and I hope we can make this information readily available both concerning the buildings that we have or have had but also the people who have been instrumental in creating a very special place.”

Gill Mayling
Committee Member
“My name is Gill and I am no stranger to the village. I grew up here and went to Dame Tipping School. I took over the family farm of 50 years, Havering Park Farm, from my Dad. I’m particularly interested in farming to improve the environment. When I have time I enjoy riding and travelling.”

Gary Mullins
Committee Member
“My name is Gary Mullins and I’ve lived in the village for approaching ten years in a house right on the Green. As well as being a committee member of HABCOS, I am also involved on the Village Hall Committee. I’m keen to help keep the village a pleasant place to live.”

Brian Murphy
Committee Member
“I have lived in the village for over 30 years. On retirement I became a member of HABCOS. I was keen to join and bring some of my own ideas to the table. Through social events and charity fundraisers we are able to boost community spirit and through this we have been able to make purchases to maintain a pleasant and safe environment for us all to live in. Why not come and join in.”

Graham Neport
Committee Member
“I was invited to join HABCOS and find it a privilege in doing so. The HABCOS committee work very hard behind the scenes dealing with bureaucracy for things like the defibrillator, ‘Tommy’, the cleaning of the pond, improving the traffic flow and raising money to make improvements to the village. I am responsible for following up on planning issues.”

Kaile-Louise Sherry
Committee Member
“Hi, my name is Kaile and I’ve been on the HABCOS committee for a few years. My role is to help with events and on the marketing side. I like living in the village as it feels like a real community. We have such beautiful views that I love to see when I ride my horse around the forest.”

Jason Wapling
Committee Member
“My name is Jason and I have just joined the HABCOS committee. I was born and grew up in the village and went to Dame Tipping School. I continue to have a close association with Havering-atte-Bower through the Round House and as the leading campanologist at St. John’s Church. I am particularly interested in maintaining the history, environment and developing the community spirit of the village.”
